Known in the U.S. for her work in film (Loving) and television (Preacher), Negga’s portrayal of Hamlet “shifts from boyish vulnerability to martial ferocity.” (Financial Times) With Farber’s direction, the focus moves from Hamlet’s anguish and identity to the power of resistance against treachery and the raw usurpation of power.

Last winter, the acclaimed Good Chance production of The Jungle sold out at St. Ann’s Warehouse. This Spring, after taking London, New York, and San Francisco by storm, this multi-award-winning production returns to St. Ann’s, launching a U.S. tour.

Take a seat in the Afghan Flag restaurant. Break bread with the resilient refugees and volunteers who, in a freezing, inhospitable environment, built a warm, self-governing society out of nothing. The Jungle evokes an improvised refugee camp in Calais, France where thousands of adults and children fleeing drought, war, and civil strife sought their “good chance” passage to the U.K. By putting a human face on a global crisis, The Jungle asks why those in severe need must face great danger when crossing borders in their search for safety. The Jungle offers empathy and compassion in place of fear and punishment.
