Directed by Emma Rice (Brief Encounter, Tristan & Yseult), this lovely new musical was meant to tour the US when the pandemic struck. St. Ann’s is delighted to join Emma’s company, Wise Children, and theaters here and abroad in presenting this fully staged production live from the Bristol Old Vic for you to enjoy at home!
Angélique, a gifted chocolate maker, so timid she faints when people look at her; and Jean-René, so awkward he relies on self-help tapes and is prone to embarrassing sweating, find each other when Angélique takes a job in Jean-René’s struggling chocolate factory. Romantics Anonymous is a delicious love story about breaking the mold and finding the courage to be happy.

A carefully developed COVID-safe plan has the cast and backstage team forming a bubble for the two-week production period and performing in an empty auditorium, meaning the show can be fully staged in its original form with singing, dancing, and no social distancing.
How does it work?
The show is performed live every night. What you will see on your screen really is happening on-stage at Bristol Old Vic.
The show will be streamed by Ticket Co, a company specializing in live-streamed events. Ticket Co also runs the Box Office, so ticket buyers will move from the St. Ann’s website on to Ticket Co to make your booking. Ticket Co will also handle any problems at the booking or viewing stages.
After booking a ticket, you will be sent a link to watch the show online at the set time. This link will be sent via email and by text. Links are unique to ticket buyers and can only be used on one device: they can not be shared.
Streaming can be watched on a computer, laptop, tablet, or phone and Ticket Co also has Google and Apple TV plugins, meaning ticket buyers can watch on their TVs. Instructions for this are available on the Ticket Co website.
